Public Announcement

This is to notify all concerned, as well general public, that Medianet Private Limited (hereinafter “Medianet”) holds the media rights license of FIFA WORLD CUP 2022 for the region of Maldives. With the authorization of FIFA, Media Net has granted the sublicense rights to live broadcast FIFA World Cup 2022 matches to the following parties;

  • RaajjeTV owned by Raajje Television Private Limited,
  • YES TV owned by Public Service Media (PSM), and
  • Channels owned by Island Communications and Entertainment (ICE)

The sublicense holders have been granted the rights to live broadcast World Cup 2022 matches through the licensed channels on Media Net approved mediums for residential customers only and broadcast live commentary of matches in Dhivehi through radio.

 

Medianet will issue separate license to commercial customers upon request, subject to the type and size of business.

 

However, the sublicense holders do not have the rights to broadcast the matches via streaming or free-to-air services. Furthermore, live broadcasting of any matches through any social media platforms or any other internet based platform is prohibited. In addition to this, it is also prohibited to commercially live broadcast World Cup 2022 matches on any public screens open to public using the feed of any sublicense holder.

All concerned and public in general is hereby advised and cautioned that it is strictly prohibited for any party, other than those sublicensed by Media Net, to broadcast any matches of World Cup 2022, via any medium in the region of Maldives. Any unauthorized broadcasting of any World Cup 2022 matches will be in violation of FIFA Regulations, International Law, International Conventions that Maldives is party to, as well as Laws of Republic of Maldives. Despite this notice, if anyone is found to be carrying on any such prohibited broadcasting of World Cup 2022 matches, Media Net shall take necessary legal actions against any such party. Furthermore, parties who acquire service through any such unauthorized service provider / broadcaster shall also be subject to legal actions in accordance with this notice.

We appreciate and thank the public for all the support in our effort to broadcast FIFA World Cup 2022 matches to the viewers and general public of Maldives.
